Kayla was finding it hard to concentrate on her work since she got the owl from her family informing her she was being arranged to marry Radolphus Lestrange. Deep down inside she held a little to the notion of finding someone to fall in love with but she also was a dutiful daughter and would do what she was told. Even if there was a small part of her that was not happy , there was nothing she could really do. Good well standing pure families did this and despite being a legal adult the papers had been signed and a wedding was in the works.

What made it worse as they worked in the same department in the Ministry, he was training to be a lawyer and she was a paralegal. She knew of his reputation as a lot of the ladies would in a way swoon over him or make comments about his looks.She thought he was a total jerk but yes handsome. In her head she thought things could be worse , it could have been an arrangement to some troll looking guy.
Well she was rather happy that soon it would be her lunch break and Kayla could have more time to process what was going to happen in a few weeks or months or who knows. She had yet to talk to Radolphus about any of this as she was trying her best to avoid him until she could bring to kind the right words to say. This union as not going to be a happy one right off but Kayla did want to make others think everything ok, that was what good young ladies did.

She scribbled down a few more notes on her parchment pad before carefully blowing on the ink to make sure it was dry. Kayla was if anything someone who took pride in her work. She never turned in messy reports , everything was done perfectly. She got up and went over to the closet by her desk and went to take out her black cloak as she wanted out of the Ministry for a little but, to get some fresh air and sunlight. She looked down the hall where the offices of the lawyers in training were and did not see anybody as she placed on her black cloak and started to head out. It was time for a break to clear her head and try and make sense of how her life was going to change , she hated change especially if it was forced.

To say that Radolphus was pleased about the conversation that he had with his father the other night would be an over statement. He was rather pissed off. To be told that he was in an arranged marriage when it wasn’t the kind of guy to settle down in a relationship was something that wasn’t sitting well with Rad. Sure his parents had picked someone who was rather good looking and someone from a well-known pureblood family. But to not trust him to find his own wife was like a blow to him. But then again, it just showed him how well his parents actually knew their son. And knew that he would never settle down with a lady unless they did something about it. So he had to give them credit for that. Even if he wasn’t happy about it.

As he worked at his desk, he had spotted the blond out of the corner of his eyes. But didn’t say anything. The fact that they were in an arranged marriage was one thing. But also to be working in the same department and still not really speak to each other. Well that was another. He knew that he would have to strike up a conversation with this future bride soon enough. But when that time would be would be bound him. Just like when all this would be happening. Was it up to them? Or were the parents going to get involved in that as well. if there was one thing he knew though. It was the fact that just because he was getting married. It didn’t mean that he was going to change his way. He wasn’t one to stay tired down to just the one lady. And this marriage wasn’t going to change that.

Looking up at the clock on the wall near him. Radolphus sighed as he put his quill down. It was time for a lunch break. And Merlin knows that he needed it. he needed to clear his mind. Not just from work. But from everything that was going on in it. Hell, if he could he would make his way to the leaky caldron for a fire whiskey or two. Or ten. But he knew that couldn’t happen. Not because of the time of day. But because he was at work. And if he wanted to work his way up to the top. He knew he had to do it sober.

As he made his way towards the exit of the department floor. Radolphus spotted that familiar blond hair again. With a small sigh. He walked up to Kayla as he ran his fingers through his hair. He wasn’t going to be rude and ignore the girl just because of everything that was going on. He was a gentleman after all. Well a gentleman in his own way. “Hello Miss Montague” Radolphus said as he walked up to her and stood beside her. Waiting for the magical lift to arrive.

She was hoping to get out of the department and not have to deal with him just yet. Kayla was tying to process the fact she was going to be married and that her parents thought they knew better then her who she should marry and spend the rest of her life with. Their heart was in the right place but her mind was all over. She ran her fingers through her hair and smiled but just as she was about to see who had walked up to join her on the lift, there he stood. Radolphus Phillip Lestrange her fiance and just the person she was hoping to avoid for a little longer. He was perfectly dressed and looking like he just stepped off some muggle fashion runway, so yes she could have done much worse. They also were at work so she knew they had to be polite and civil to each other.She turned and gave him a smile.

Good afternoon Mr. Lestrange. Going out for lunch I gather. She stood there for a moment wondering if she should bring up the subject of the engagement or just let it go. They would have to talk about this eventually so why not now. Since we are both adults I don't see a reason why we should not talk about the one thing I know is on both of our minds, this arrangement we have both been placed in to.Yes Kayla could have just stood there and not said a word but she was not someone to shy away from something or run scared . She had already been avoiding him so now was time to deal. The doors to the lift opened as Kayla walked on and turned and smiled at Radolphus waiting for him to join her. The wedding was going to happen weather they talked about it or not so she felt why not deal with it and get this long awaited talk over with. [

b]I know this is not what either of us expected but, we are here together right now so lets get this talk over with.[/b] In her mind once the first talk about the arrangement was over there would be a great weight lifted off both their shoulder and they could start the planning and get on with their lives.Her mother was already bugging her about did they talk when is the wedding? It was driving her nuts, the young lady barely enough time to deal with this. But life could be worse . Kayla now just waited for the man to join her inside the lift and maybe start that talk.
